Lulu here… AKA Bogart’s mom.  I fully realize my part in not updating Bogart’s blog as much as I – of course – should have been in the last week or so.  I’ve also been remiss in our blog visitations, for which Bogart has duly chastised me.  But despite what Bogart may have told you, there is actually a pretty darned good reason, one that he doesn’t yet know about.

His buddy Heidi the Boxer – you may know her as his pawsonal trainer – was diagnosed with aggressive, incurable cancer this past week.  It’s made her mama and dad incredibly sad, and I’ve been sad as well.  She had been up and down with a mystery illness for the last month or two, and it wasn’t until this week when she went to a real doggie specialist and the diagnosis was made.

I was the one who got Heidi to her new parents a little more than two years ago – one of my past co-workers had puppies, and Heidi was impossible to resist.  She was a little brown wiggly kiwi, and she still makes me giggle every time I see her pretty smile.

Boxer babies

Heidi and Bogart are only a few months apart in age.  I simply could not imagine losing my best buddy at such a young age, and my heart aches for both Heidi and her mom and dad.  They’ve decided to keep Heidi happy until she’s ready to cross – every day will be Christmas, as they’ve said – and yesterday Heidi’s dad went out and got not one, but two new baby boxers (in the picture above) so that Heidi would be able to impart some of her special “Heidi-ness” to them.  Heidi LOVES her new playmates, she’s busy teaching them all about her house, her cool yard, and which toys are HERS, and watching them all play together is warming their mom and dad’s heart.

Soon we’ll bring Bogart over to meet the little ones, and to spend more time with his special Boxer-babe, Miss Heidi.   I’m sure he’ll be excited to meet them, and lots of Airedale-Boxer hilarity will ensue.

Sorry for hijacking your blog Bogart, you may of course bite me on the thigh now (which you KNOW that I hate).

Love,

Lulu & Bogart

  1. Lulu and Bogart,

I’ve got tears in my eyes after reading your post about Heidi. I have loved reading all of the adventures she and Bogart have had. She has certainly done well as a pawsonal trainer, keeping Bogie nice and trim. Mom used to joke she would ship me out to L.A. to work with Heidi, since I have a slight weight issue. I think it is wonderful that Heidi’s parents simply want to keep her happy until her time comes. If I was in her situation, I would want the same thing.
The new puppies are just too cute. They are sure to be great dogs since Ms. Heidi is working with them. I can’t wait to see pics of them and Bogart, and of course more pictures of Bogart and his special lady, Heidi. Keep yours and Bogart’s spirits up. Without Heidi those two adorable pups would not have found such a wonderful home.

    Your Pal,
    Kirby
