A day chock-full of Boxer-y goodness… today I got to see my girl Heidi and the two new Boxer pups that will be sharing her house… they are way too cute for words.  They have a funny smell (mom calls it “new puppy smell” and apparently I stunk like this too when I was a baby) but I found them interesting.  I was trying to play with Heidi but she didn’t feel like playing today – she was very tired and just wanted to rest on her couch.

This is Dee-Dee, the girl pup.  She looks a LOT like her Aunt Heidi… she has on the pink harness in the photos (cause, well, she’s a GIRL)

This is Fritz, the boy (notice the BLUE harness)… he has really cool stripes and white mittens on his paws…

Heidi seems tired but happy.  She wagged her sweet little stump when I came in, and I was really happy to see her.  I was a little confused as to why she didn’t want to run outside with me, but I could tell that she wasn’t feeling that well so it was ok.

Aren’t the little ones adorable?  Mom took some video, she’s going to put that together soon – it’s even cuter if that’s possible

    Fifty

I wanted to take a moment to eulogize a friend that I never got to meet – Fifty.

    Fifty

He belongs to a friend of my dad’s and he lived in Idaho – and from what I’ve heard, he was quite a character. I can see it in his eyes, can’t you?

    Fifty

I was trying to talk him into starting a blog of his own and I think he was considering it seriously – until his untimely, and all-too-soon passing.

    Fifty

Go forth little Fiddy – and poop all over the Wally Mart in the sky!

    Presents from Gooberstan

A place that I hope to visit someday, it looks like a spot I’d like an awful lot of SERIOUS fun…

    Presents from Gooberstan

But in the meantime a bit of GooberStan was right here in sweltering hot Los Angeles!  I’m a bit late in posting about the FANTASTIC box that arrived from that great, fuzzy place because of some technical issues with my secretary (that’s mom).  She will, of course, apologize profusely for the oversight.

Hell, in the meantime, I’m busy enjoying this cool box ‘o stuff – not just one but TWO bandanas (a camo and a skull one, I feel SO BADASS), treats, bully sticks, a tennis ball-and-holder, a kitty note pad (LOVE this), a patch that says Dale (this made mom l-a-u-g-h…), a c-r-a-z-y squeaky fish (that I’m not allowed to play with at night… apparently I get a little carried away and the sound alerts the humans while they’re sleeping), a stuffed octopus (this is officially my newest favorite stuffy – right after the chicken-on-a-rope that I got from Charlie & Opy and the tennis-ball-attached toy I got from Faya, and the squeaky carrot I got from Maggie & Mitch – as you can see it’s already got some fine Los Angeles dirt all over it).

Then the piece-de-resistance, a Stanley magnet, or as we’ve been calling it, The Stangnet. It’s on our refrigerator at mom’s eye height, so she can see it every time she reaches for more cold, frosty iced tea (which she will invariably spit out of her nose when she laughs – it’s really quite endearing).

I hope you noticed that mom and I tried to put in as many cute Dale-nose-shots as possible – just for you!!!!

Thought you’d also like to see what the box that the Firehouse Dogs poster came in… ah, my dreamgirl

    It’s cold here today.

Ok, relatively cold. Dark and overcast the entire day. Mom and I had our hike in downtown Pasadena, thinking that maybe it would clear up – nope. At least it wasn’t that hot… mom calculated today that the walk is just under 3 miles but it’s a FUN walk – most people smile or acknowledge me so I’m a happy camper.

    Maggie & Mitch Airedales

So we were coming home, climbing up the stairs to our place, and there was a package in front of the door. Mom looked a little puzzled – she wasn’t expecting anything – and then she started to laugh. The package was addressed to MEEEEEEEE!!!!! Get this damn harness off of me mom, I’ve got a package to open!!!!

The package was from my great Aire friends Maggie and Mitch – gimme, gimme, gimme!!! Mom was going to help me open the package but I started it myself. It was a tough nut to crack. She opened it for me a bit (so I could still have the satisfaction of ripping it open myself) and while that was interesting and all, I like it much better when the package is already completely opened for me, gifts easily displayed (and reached).

    Maggie & Mitch Airedales

Oh yeah the card – yada yada yada – mom appreciated that one (it has a GREAT drawing of an Airedale on it!), I tried to eat it.

    Maggie & Mitch Airedales

Ohmygosh, these are the COOLEST presents I’ve gotten!!!!! A squeaky carrot (one of Maggie’s faves) and a packet of two yummy treat sticks – one from Maggie and one from Mitch!!!!!

I was playing with all of my new stuff, especially a treat stick, and mom went to clean up the mess (I also found the bubble wrap scintillating). When she returned she seemed a little shocked that the entire stick had disappeared – yes, it’s in my belly now!!!!! Mmm, mmm, good!

THANK YOU MISS MAGGIE AND MY BUDDY MITCH!!!!!!!!!!

    Heidi the Boxer

    Whatta surprise!

    Heidi the Boxer

Dad took me over to KCs house – I thought we were just gonna water the back yard like we’ve been doing for the last month – boy was I surprised when Heidi came out the front door!!!

Heidi the Boxer Heidi the Boxer

I haven’t seen her for about a month now, and she immediately noticed that I wasn’t keeping up my workouts.  So we went out for a hike and it was great to see her again!

After the hike mom took me to The Grove, the outdoor shopping center in LA.  We walked around for awhile and were gonna stop at one of our favorite lunch places, the Corner Bakery, but it was closed!!!  No signs, nothing inside.  Oh well, I guess we have to go over to Johnny Rockets – we can sit outside for full Airedale admiration.

    Bogart at Johnny Rockets

On the way we had to pass Three Dog Bakery, and mom picked up a little snack for me… which I never like fresh from the bakery.  They’re cold and I hate that so even though I’m excited by the bag, I’m not into the treat.  Mom got a grilled cheese when we sat down and offered me the treat.  I sniffed it but it still was too cold.

Bogart at Johnny Rockets Bogart at Johnny Rockets

So Heidi I did keep up my diet – no pup cake and just some water.  I’m glad you’re back!!!

    Bogart For Chloe

I was sad to get news yesterday that Chloe, an Airedale Terrier, went to doggie heaven this week… her dad wrote to me that I made him smile so I was due a cheeseburger.

    Okie dokie!

Off we go to Rally’s – at first I was unaware of where we were going, but as we pulled into the parking lot I felt sure that this was going to be my “Chloe Burger”!  And yes, a burger was indeed forthcoming mom explained, that I was going to get in honor of Chloe.

    Bogart For Chloe

First dad tried to get me to make a “toast” to Chloe using his jumbo lemonade.  I was a bit confused, but did my best to follow tradition.

    Then it was burger time…

    Mmm, mmm, mmm.

    Bogart For Chloe

I just want Chloe’s dad to know that all of us here feel really sorry for your loss of beautiful Chloe, that she’s waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you, and hope that you are okay during this difficult time… I’m sorry I never got to know Chloe!

    More Bogart Xmas Cards!

WOW! Today I got 7 CARDS!!!

Everything in the mailbox was for meeeeeeee! Mom said she was happy that there weren’t any bills for her but I just think that she’s jealous that all the mail was mine.

Today I got cards from Cubby and Dakota, Freda Shepherd, Isabella the Poodle, Simba, Holly & the Furry Five, Boo and my newest Airedale crush, Maggie!!

More Bogart Xmas Cards! More Bogart Xmas Cards!

Maggie‘s mom made me the COOLEST Airedale ornament to put on my tree, so I insisted that mom do that for me RIGHT AWAY so I could see how great it looks!

Of course a Christmas tree isn’t complete without presents… and while I’m still working on finding a box big enough to mail myself to Miss Sunshade I did think of you today my dreamgirl…

I was out late, it was my last peepee walk of the night. Strolling with mom, mostly just wasting time and leaving a few calling cards for any evil critters who might think of coming anywhere near my apartment building.

    More Bogart Xmas Cards!

And then I saw it… perfectly shaped, a good size for carrying with you (for the “girl on the go” as it were) I saw a fantastic pine cone that I knew that my dreamgirl would LOVE. I scooped it up gently in my massive jaw and pranced gaily back home. Mom was surprised that I was actually running to get back INSIDE the house as I’m usually running to get OUTSIDE the house, but she didn’t see my prize.

More Bogart Xmas Cards! More Bogart Xmas Cards! More Bogart Xmas Cards!

But once inside I found the Christmas tree – MY Christmas tree – the one with the beautiful new Airedale ornament, and gently placed the pine cone at its feet. I looked at it, thinking of my dreamgirl, and was happy thinking how much she would love this!

    More Bogart Xmas Cards!

What I didn’t know is that mom found a pine cone too and snuck it inside in her jacket – she rolled it to me and I put it next to the other pine cone. So now it’s kind of like the one pine cone for my dreamgirl Sunshade, and one pine cone for my new Airegirl friend Maggie!

    So ladies….. HERE’S TO YOU!

    More Bogart Xmas Cards!

After all of that excitement, I was content to check out all of my cool new cards from all of my great doggie friends, and drift off to doggie dreamland.

Your ever lovin’ man (I do love my Aire-ladies),

    Bogart Xmas Cards

So today I FINALLY got mom to finish up all of my Xmas cards… I didn’t wanna be late! I’m already getting cards so I thought that she should just get off of her butt, stop doing all that “work” stuff, and get my cards finished.

    Bogart Xmas Cards

She tried to argue with me that she was sooooo busy, that it was sooooo much work, but I wasn’t having any of that.

Bogart Xmas Cards Bogart Xmas Cards Bogart Xmas Cards

Today the big announcement came – “The cards are ready”! So off we went to the post office to mail ‘em. I insisted on doing this myself – they are MY cards after all – and luckily the guy in the post office was cool.

    Bogart Xmas Cards

Well not at first… I had to do my patented move – sit, cock head to one side, lift eyebrow – and mom had to get all girlie on him, but then it was fine. So I got to personally mail all of the cards – hope you guys love them!!! I know I love getting mine!!!!

Today I got my Xmas card from my terrier buddies, Butchy & Snickers!!!

This is the first one I’ve gotten that had a little separate picture inside, which at first I thought must have been something that I could eat.  Alas, mom quickly told me no it wasn’t something to eat and then I took a look at it and it was a picture of Butchy & Snickers so I realized that yeah, it wasn’t edible.  Just incredibly cute!!!

Here I am posing with all of my cards so far… and falling asleep.

Ah, today is my Aire-dreamgirl Miss Sunshade’s birthday… dreaming of you my dearest and hope you have the best birthday ever!!!
