Oh Miss Lisa, mama and I had SUCH A GOOD TIME with you, and we’re sorry that we couldn’t spend more time together while you were here in Portland.  I hope you know that all of those times I tried to tackle you as well as the times I would grumble meant that I was showing you LOVE and APPRECIATION, even when it may not have seemed that way.

And thanks for all of the chin action and the introduction to the true atomic booty scratch.  Obviously mama has been doin’ it wrong all of this time, and she learned something too.

My pal Robin (one of what dad used to call “the mobsties”) is sick… he has a tumor and may need surgery – he needs some serious Airezen or any-kind-of-Zen-you-can-do!

Mama spilled the beans to me that I am going to get to visit my favorite Dales in LA this summer, and hey, I really wanna see my pal Robin.  Robin is a very, very special boy to his mama Mareike, so I’m asking for your lovin’ to come toward Los Angeles from all of the world!

I can’t tell ya how tickled I am these days to be watching the Kerry Blues do their thang… mama and I are really absolutely enamored of them.  And THOSE BEARDS – they make me all tingly whenever I see them, especially after roaring to the top in Stanley & Stella’s Beard Competition.

So I feel very honored (and did I mention tingly?) to receive this award from them.

Life to the Max is a book of maxims for a great life – written by a dog named Max (and told to his mama).  It’s adorable… and TASTY

Mama thinks it’s funny that whenever she hands me a book the first thing I do is try to bite it.  Yep, I find that amusing too…

He belongs to some of dad and mama’s friends and he came for a visit this past weekend.  He weighs 3 POUNDS!  Even my smallest cat buddy outweighs him 3-to-1.  But he’s a feisty little guy, super cute and un-yappy.  We didn’t get along right at the beginning, but by the end of the weekend we had a walkie together and all was well.  He is a mix – Chihuahua and Poodle – which begs the question:

It is always a GOOD DAY when a package arrives from the Republic of Gooberstan…

I have heard – and seen – much of the fabled pink flamingo.  However, I have never personally experienced this rare bird… UNTIL TODAY

Yes, he will fit in nicely with my stuffed squid, my orange flying saucer, all of my tennies, my squeaky steak and of course my half-deflated soccer ball.

Today is the Animal Planet Expo here in NE Portland, which sounds right up my alley.  It’s HOT again here today, so lets start off with a lovely misting of cool water…

Ok, ready to go.  A nice man handed mom these Meercat Manor fans and what does she immediately do with them?  (hint:  she’s CRAZY sometimes)

I wanted to hop into this cool bike contraption – thinking that dad could get a workout while I ride in style – but alas, it was not to be.

The Oregon Humane Society was there as well… Feel the Love!

Oh, do we HAVE to do the silly Meercat thing again?  Oh well, alright, if it MAKES YOU LAUGH MOM…

Dad, I’ve done many silly things for you in the name of art.  I’ve stood in front of more things than I can count.  I’ve let you photograph my butt.  But I just don’t wanna stand in front of the giant inflatable tabby.

Luckily, Charlie obviously hasn’t had to do so many silly things yet, so lets let him do it!  Thanks for taking one for the team buddy!

I was a little grumpy again today – it’s gotta be all of the testosterone runnin’ though me – but hey, it was also pretty darned hot outside.

And then I saw it in the distance… first just as red blobs enticingly placed at doggie level, and then as we got closer I could see them clearly – the doggie doody area with FIRE HYDRANTS!!!  Dad tried to get the guy to give us one for the backyard, but alas, that was not to be.

Ah, more silliness.  Since this time neither Charlie nor I were going for the latest hair-brained plan, mom and Claire had to be the guinea pigs (uh, I mean MEERKATS) for the next silly photo…

You should have seen the Border Collie frisbee show – they are INCREDIBLE!!!  Charlie was taking notes for his sister Casey (the Border Collie with the pretty blue eyes), I’m sure she could do cool stuff like that!

Tons of swag, tons of people, and tons of girlie-dog-butt…

But mostly, time to sit while the humans talk and relax a bit.

Sometimes the swag wasn’t free, they made us work for it.  No problem – we can participate in your silly games in order to get free stuff!  First Charlie threw beanbags for swag.

Then we spun wheels for swag.  First Charlie…

Then we had free ID tags made.  More swag!

But now it’s getting awfully hot, and it’s time for that ever-yummy frosty beverage.  But where to go today?  We’re in a different neighborhood than we usually go… but hey wait, we’re close to the Mississippi district aren’t we?  Lets try out the Amnesia Brewery…

Yummo – now this was a good one!  Excellent food, great beer, good prices, and the dog-friendliness meter was on high.

Charlie my friend, once again I am sorry for my grumpiness.  I see how cool you are with my mama (and boy does she love the kisses!) and I will work on my calmness.  I hear the talk about finding a nice girl for me (what you humans think I don’t understand what you’re saying???), and this will surely help.  Can’t wait to see you again!!!

I ripped and ripped and tugged and tugged and FINALLY I got the thing open…

IT IS A WUBBA!!!! I’ve been Wubba-deprived forever, this is my very first Wubba, I’m soooo excited I can barely contain myself!

I immediately decided to introduce my new Wubba to all of my current stuffy friends. Then I took it aside to get to know it a little better – and I like what I’m chewin’ on!

There was another present inside that I’m not going to mention yet as we haven’t been able to properly photograph me with it. Mom promises to work on getting a good photo soon (yes, it will be worth the wait).

I’m soooooo sad to find out today that a buddy of mine is at the Rainbow Bridge. This is Dave. Longtime readers of my adventures will remember him from my younger days romping around at the Silverlake dog park. Before my testosteone kicked in and I couldn’t go there anymore without wanting to start somethin’ with someone.

Dave was always my pal and just LOVED mom. And she loved him right back, every morning, and every time he’d wander over to say PET ME!

Dave did LOTS of great things and was always a snappy dresser. Cause as the saying goes, “every girl crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man”…

The Echo Park Animal Alliance is helping out his mama with the vet bills, they’re a great organization and can hopefully help her a lot!

Today Heidi – my best Boxer friend and pawsonal trainer – went to the great pawsonal training facility in the sky. We’re all very sad – she was only 2 years old – but happy that she’s not in pain and that she didn’t suffer for a long time with the cancer.

So if ya see a new Boxer-shaped star in the sky tonight, say hi to Heidi for me.

This is Dee-Dee, the girl pup.  She looks a LOT like her Aunt Heidi… she has on the pink harness in the photos (cause, well, she’s a GIRL)

This is Fritz, the boy (notice the BLUE harness)… he has really cool stripes and white mittens on his paws…

Heidi seems tired but happy.  She wagged her sweet little stump when I came in, and I was really happy to see her.  I was a little confused as to why she didn’t want to run outside with me, but I could tell that she wasn’t feeling that well so it was ok.

Aren’t the little ones adorable?  Mom took some video, she’s going to put that together soon – it’s even cuter if that’s possible…

I wanted to take a moment to eulogize a friend that I never got to meet – Fifty.

He belongs to a friend of my dad’s and he lived in Idaho – and from what I’ve heard, he was quite a character. I can see it in his eyes, can’t you?

I was trying to talk him into starting a blog of his own and I think he was considering it seriously – until his untimely, and all-too-soon passing.

Go forth little Fiddy – and poop all over the Wally Mart in the sky!
