    Meet Marjorie.

Marjorie is AWESOME.  Marjorie came running – not walking, RUNNING, out of Starbucks when she saw my fuzzy butt walk by.  Marjorie also has an Airedale (awesome points), she recognized me from my blog (major awesome points), and she’s an avid follower of my adventures and has turned on all of her friends and family to the coolness that is To Aire is Divine (too cool for school, Marjorie!).

YOU ROCK Marjorie!  Big Aire Kisses to you and your sweet Dale!

    Love,

Today a package arrived at my door.  It smelled good.  Mama said that it came from Denmark, and I didn’t know much about Denmark.  So we sat down to open it, and lookie what was inside:

Mama started to look at the book but damnit I smelled something delicious – put down the book mama, there is something delicious inside!

NOT FAST ENOUGH.  I grabbed the bag of treats and ran into the other room. Unfortunately mama was fast, I only got to rip apart one side before she brought it back for the photo op.

Look at this.  How cool is that?  Real salmon for rugged individualist dogs JUST LIKE ME

I cannot begin to tell you how yummy this is.

Oh yeah, I like the book too.  Not as much as mama (she loved it!) but sure, I’ll give it the Bogart seal of approval!

But wait… there was more inside.  A cool t-shirt with an AIREDALE on it – Mama ALWAYS needs more of those!  And the saying is SO TRUE:

    If it’s not an Airedale…

    It’s just a DOG.

Now back to those salmon treats.

I would normally take this time to explain how yummy the treats are, how much I love them, but it’s very hard to talk with your mouth full…

    NOM NOM NOM

These are some of the yummiest treats I have ever tasted, but don’t just take my word for it…

    Kafka loved ‘em…

    Sekhmet loved ‘em…

    Behemoth loved ‘em…

    Willie loved ‘em…

    And Aeon loved ‘em.

And mama LOVES her new shirt, and will wear it with PRIDE.

Lone and Sten (and of course Soya and Sheba), thank you so very much for all of the lovely presents and your letter.  It made my day.  It made me smile.  And it made Bogart and my kitties go nuts for salmon!  I am sorry for your loss of Sheba and it’s so fantastic that you have Soya – I don’t have to understand Danish to understand the extreme cuteness level of your sweet Soya:  www.bricksite.com/airedale

My greatest dream has now come true.  I have met and have been expertly rubbed by Brooke and Greg, the founders of Dogs With Blogs!!!

I wondered why we were walking across the Burnside Bridge this morning, and it turns out that they were staying at the Jupiter Hotel and we were off to welcome them to Portland.

I cannot begin to tell you how much fun we had – sitting outside at the Life of Riley tavern and all getting to “know” each other.  I feel like I know these two because we’ve both been around the dog blogging world for so long…

They got my attention instantly when they gave me a fantastic present – a bone-shaped stuffie with the Australian flag on it!  Woo-hoo!

And I got this amazing souvenir of the Dogs With Blogs USA 2010 Tour!

Mama and I just LOVED them from the second we saw them.  We laughed, and laughed, and laughed for hours.

They also both have some amazing tattoos – mama couldn’t resist taking some pix…

We played here for HOURS – the time flew by…

Greg immediately became one of my favorite people in the entire world.  He understands me on a deeper level, and he’s the first person other than mama that I’ve allowed to get up close and personal with me since daddy passed away.

I gave him a couple of kisses to show my appreciation.  He seemed to like it.

Brooke really knows how to give a great booty scratch – much appreciated after a long day!

By the end of the night, Greg and I were lounging on the sidewalk at the bar just like old friends.  I know we will see each other again sometime, and we will always be super-duper friends.  Mama promises to come and visit you in Australia sometime!!!  And I send lots of love and Aire Kisses to Opy & Benson!!!!!

I can’t tell ya how tickled I am these days to be watching the Kerry Blues do their thang… mama and I are really absolutely enamored of them.  And THOSE BEARDS – they make me all tingly whenever I see them, especially after roaring to the top in Stanley & Stella’s Beard Competition.

So I feel very honored (and did I mention tingly?) to receive this award from them.

The award states: “This blog invests and believes in PROXIMITY – nearness in space, time and relationships!” In other words, blogs that receive this award “are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”

So as always, I’m probably late to the party on this one.  In the interest of spreading the love, I’m gonna try to find other dogs who haven’t already received this, many apologies if you already have…

    Scruffy, Stan & Lacie

It was TOUGH to just pick 8 other dogs to send this to – I tried hard to find those of you who hadn’t already received one – which is sometimes the toughest part.  Mama and I read so many of your blogs all the time, so we did a lot of visiting to see, but alas, sometimes mama screws up.

So I’m just sending BIG AIRE KISSES to ALL of my dog friends to cover my butt (tuck tail first!) :)

Today is a VERY special day.  It’s Mareike’s (my favorite human other than mama and dad) birthday!!!

I wish I was there to give ya a big Aire Kiss (and run around your backyard, and play with your Dales, and bark at your hose…).  But I’m not, so this vintage moment of us kissin’ at the Good Microbrew will have to do.  Hope you had a GREAT ONE!!!

Hey… that’s an AIREDALE!!!  Mom, dad, did you know about this?  Was this planned?  Why yes it was, a playdate for me with a cool boy Dale named Charlie.

Ok, lets get the play bows out of the way… and get right to some sniffin’.  You’re an awfully cute boy, I really like your spiffy vest!  And you know what… even tho I don’t like most other boy dogs there is just something special about meeting other Airedales – so LETS WALK!

Isn’t Charlie handsome?  He’s a little younger than me, so he’s still got some puppy-black-face, but he’s working on a fine beard and moustache.  And check out that cool white patch on his chest!  I want one of those…  The pretty Border Collie next to him is his sister Casey.  Doesn’t she have the coolest eyes you’ve ever seen?  She’s a sweetie-pie :)

After the walkie and general get-to-know-you, we headed over to the Lucky Lab for some refreshment.

Follow me Charlie, I know the way…

I’m really impressed with Charlie’s posture, he’s quite a graceful boy.

Should we turn the cute Airedale Eyes on ‘em to get some treats, Charlie?  Whaddaya think?

Yup, he’s a professional at this treat-getting, and he seemed to think that my Bogart treats were tasty.

Here I am exhibiting a slightly more refined technique of beef heart procurement…

There were lots of other doggies at the Lucky Lab, which was of course distracting.  Made me a little cranky.  Sorry for that Charlie, I didn’t mean to growl at ya.  It’s just that I can be kind of weirdly protective of mama sometimes (even when she’s begging for the hug and full-on Dale kissin’ that you so expertly gave her).  I promise to work on that, and you’ll see, the next time we get together I won’t be so growly…

So whaddaya say Charlie, would you like to hang out again sometime soon?  I sure would!!!  We all had a GREAT time with you, Casey, and your mama & dad, and are looking forward to seeing you all again!!!

    Pretty Girls

Another white-hot day in Pasadena. It was hot enough today that I was doing my Mexican-jumping-bean dance at streetcorners whenever mama and I had to wait for a light to change – since I’m not wearing shoes, it’s gets kind of toasty on the pads. It’s still always fun to walk around tho, and get away from all of the looming moving boxes in my apartment. Not too much space there right now for a majestic Dale such as I, so I do like to go out as much as possible.

This past week that meant I spent my days at Dale Day Care – aka, Mareike’s house – and there is truly no better place to be. Rather than being cooped up in the apartment, before she goes to work mama drops me off at Dale Day Care and then she picks me up on her lunch hour. So I get some time with my buddies and to check messages at my office, then some relaxation time until she arrives home at night. Not too shabby.

During our walk back to the Bogie-mobile, I met these two lovely ladies from Australia – and got an excellent, three-person massage while the Airedmiration flowed. They were so sweet! Mama and I stayed to talk with them for awhile on the street, so long that they lost the friends they were originally walking with! What can I say, I have that effect on people…

They were so cool – hope you enjoyed your time in SoCal ladies!

Check out my new high-fashion stuffies…

     David Remfry

Mom’s friend David (that is his painting on the card!) sent me some FABULOUS new stuffies… a Pawda purse and a Vera Wag shoe!  I’m comfortable enough in my masculinity to chew on these fine toys…

They’re actually quite small which is nice – I don’t have many small stuffies – and I’m not a big swallower.  I just gnaw, then carry them around with me.  I suddenly feel very high-class…

    THANKS DAVID!

    Bogart Walkie

The park behind our house where I have most of my walkies has been having a little work done.  That’s a good thing, because there are a LOT of dead trees and weird foliage that needs to get cleared out.  Several weeks ago, a team cut down a few trees and just let them roll – and here they have sat ever since.  Notice the lovely CAUTION tape that they put up – I’m sure that this kept people away (not! the trees got tagged with graffiti).  Here I am inspecting it to add my own personal touch.

     Bogart Walkie

Everything looks awfully green doesn’t it?  Well, this particular patch of green isn’t from the little, tiny bit of rain that we had recently, it’s from a broken water pipe in the park.  It was bubbling for a few weeks, occasionally it would get fixed, but then it would be broken again.  We think it was from horses walking in the park, but it could also be vandalism.  Anyway it makes a lovely green patch…

Aw shucks mom, can’t a boy have a little privacy?

    Christof Kohlhoffer

    Christof Kohlhoffer

Tonight we had a visitor that I really like – the artist, Christof Kohlhoffer!  He’s a friend of mom and dad’s and since he makes mom laugh like a hyena, I think he’s pretty cool too.  We all had dinner then lots of talk about how cute I am.  Good times.

A great surprise this fine Sunday morning…

Mom and I slept in late (which is REALLY unusual for me, but since dad has been gone I’ve been sleeping in bed next to mom and she’s WARM), then had to go out to pick up a friend of hers at the airport. I wasn’t that thrilled about having to drive out to the airport again (no Airedales at the Aireport) especially since I hadn’t had my morning poop yet, but ok, I’m up for the adventure.

I thought we’d just pick him up and drive home, but after we dropped him off mom took a different route toward home… hm, why have I been here before? Where are we headed? And then mom pulled into a parking spot.

I KNOW! I KNOW! I KNOW WHERE WE’RE GOING!!!! MAREIKE’S HOUSE!!! WITH MY 3 DALE BUDDIES!!!!!

I got so excited in the car I couldn’t stand it. Get me outa this car I was barking!!! My Dale buddies are just inside!!! I flew out of the car toward her house – I have no idea how I remembered which house was hers – and flew up the stairs.

    Day with the Dales

    Day with the Dales

    Day with the Dales

And there were my buddies!!!!! Robin, Kermit, and Jupie!!!!! Whenever we first see each other we run, jump, bark, and run some more first inside the house and then into the back yard. Mom and Mareike sit and talk and I immediately find Jupie so that I can get a little humping in.

    Day with the Dales

This time I didn’t completely monopolize Jupie’s fine Aire-butt, I spent some time trying to convince both Robin and Kermit to take a walk on the wild side (ahem, they’re both boys…) but no dice.

    Day with the Dales

There was also a sweet guest dog named Buster who I wasn’t sure about at first… but pretty quickly it became apparent that he was both sweet and submissive so as long as I can feel like “I have the nuts so I am the king” all was well.

Then we walked over to have lunch at Good Microbrew and my love for Mareike was strengthened. Many, many pieces of lovely burger fell from the sky directly into my mouth. I even indulged in some french fries. I had to hold the line when she tried to trick me into eating a tomato slice or some iceberg lettuce. If you’re not gonna eat that then neither am I!!!

    Day with the Dales

I’m always sad when we have to leave Mareike’s house, I have THE BEST time playing with my Dale buddies. I came home and flopped down, completely exhausted, where I have been for the last few hours (I may wake up to eat dinner, maybe not).
