So a package arrived for me today… all the way from Canada… what could it be?  It’s not STILL my birthday, is it???

It smells awfully darned good… kind of like… MISS SUNSHADE!!!

Sunshade, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my presents!!!  The treats are super yummy, (mom claimed the stuffed Airedale so I wouldn’t destroy it), and the Bogie photo tag is FANTASTIC!!!  And those green tripe treats, well, I’ve NEVER tasted anything so delicious in my entire life!  Mom says that yes they stink, but as long as I like ‘em…

Meet my new pal Murphy.  We met in the funniest way today…

Mom and I went to Pasadena and thought we’d have a romp in the park.  So she pulled over the Bogie-mobile and when we got out we were in front of a flower store.  All mom saw was a flower store but I saw something m-o-r-e… I saw Murphy inside and she saw me so we had a little love-and-sniff-fest through the glass door.  I thought I’d never see her again until…

While mom and I were in the park (and thankfully, after I’d already done my “business” and mom had put it in the trashcan), Murphy and her dad came over too!  Running toward me like we’d known each other for years, it was that pretty brown girl from the flower shop.  One sniff of each other’s butts and we knew we’d be friends.

Since it was a public park and apparently I don’t listen (thanks a lot mom) I had to stay on leash but I still got to have an incredibly good time running around with Murphy.  She’s super fun to play with…

All that running around in the hot Pasadena sun got us both tired, so while the humans were talking we thought we’d just rest.  I got up nice and close to Murphy so we could cuddle a little.

I’m ready to play again with Murphy ANY TIME – and now that I know where she “works” I can stop by the next time mom and I are in Pasadena to say hi!!!

First, a big wet sloppy kiss (complete with wet stringy beard) to all of my special Valentines! And then another one to all of my boy dog friends (because I’m equal opportunity)!

The picture above is Kafka the tabby and Behemoth the grey spotty guy, two of the cats that share my home. Kafka is lying on his heart-shaped pillow (did you notice that he’s managed to get all 3 pillows into his bed? one of those used to be mine….). Appropriate for Valentines Day, I thought.

So back to the things that make the heart go pitter patter. Mom and dad took me out to see my very FAVORITE pals in the entire world, those fabulous Airedales, Robin, Kermit and Jupie! I had a special present for Jupie (she’s the only girl) that I just had to give her in person… some of my other Valentines have already received theirs, this was the only one I got to “paw-deliver”.

I always have a HUGE amount of fun running around with the other Dales and today was no exception.

Since it was Valentine’s Day, and I am a young unneutered male, my thoughts turned almost immediately to l-o-v-e… and that meant Jupie. Hey, I’ll try to hump the boys too but they’re not quite as tolerant as Jupie is, and they don’t smell as nice.

So I worked my magic on her and she must have known that it was Valentines Day as well for she actually let me get some good humping in before kicking me off and running away. Heaven!

Mom and Dad really LOVE the Dales too at Mareike’s house – it’s always fun for them to talk with her and tell stories while I’m running around humping everything in sight.

They’re really my very BEST BUDDIES in the whole world, and I always have a SUPER GREAT time playing with them.

Nice clean teeth from regular bone eating – I aspire to this, as well as the lush, full beard.

After a lot of time running around in the sunny afternoon, it was time to go home.  Unfortunately I really didn’t want to go yet, but since I was wearing my green adventure harness, it was easy for mom and dad to “persuade” me that we had to leave.  Not my choice, Mareike!  I’d stay and play with your dogs ALL THE TIME if my evil mom and dad would let me…

So I arrived home and got the mail, and what do I see first…. it’s a Valentine from Snickers!!!!  I was soooooo excited, I tore it open immediately and wanted to pose with it.  Thank you Miss Snickers, you gorgeous WFT, you, and YES I WILL BE YOUR VALENTINE!!!

So much fun… gotta go have a power nap now.  I hear those are good for humans…

Today I received your Valentine’s Day card and my heart started thumping.  The fact that you had pawsonally signed it got me so excited…

After I opened your card, dad gave me a piece of roast beef – supposedly for us to “share”.  So first I bit off half, saving half for you, then it fell on my nose so I had to eat the whole thing.  I know you would understand.

Mom is in the process of making a nice page with ALL of my Christmas cards on it because she got so behind in thanking everyone for the great cards!!!

But I insisted on taking a special moment for my girl-Dales, Sunshade, Faya, and Maggie, and writing them a little love letter…

Tonight I spent a little alone-time with their fantastic cards and lovely presents… you girls make me feel so special!!!

These were from my dreamgirl Sunshade my Canadian cutie, I cannot believe how beautiful and personal she made my card!

And the “Airedale Taxi Service” sign is perfection!!!!! I’m completely over the moon for Miss Sunshade and think she was especially good at directing her mom and making amazing cards…

And this was from Faya, all the way from Switzerland!!! My European babe! I think she looks especially fetching with her Santa hat cocked jauntily to one side, don’t you? Thank you for the beautiful calendar, I wish Los Angeles was so pretty!!!!

And of course who could forget my FANTASTIC Airedale ornament (looks just like me!!!) from Maggie! This has been the ONLY ornament on MY tree (yes I have my own little silver one – I’m not afraid of it anymore!) ever since I put up my tree. So I can look at it over and over and think of my pretty Aire-girl, Maggie.

Looks like I’ve got my ladies on many continents… girls you make my Aire-heart beat so much faster!!!!!

Today mom had a “job interview”.  I wasn’t sure what this meant, so I tried to ask her… but her car broke down yesterday so we had to visit the mechanic before she could go.  So I had to wait to ask.

Walter at Budget Auto Repair is one of our favorite people.  He’s German and a REAL mechanic.  He always fixes mom and dads cars so that they run really well (until they break down that is – but apparently this is always mom’s fault anyway).

Well we got there and I got to see my girl Ferocious – loyal readers will remember her from posts awhile back, the last time that moms car broke down, when I introduced her as my latest squeeze.  Well she’s still as foxy as ever, so we played while the humans talked about spark plugs.

I overheard mom talking about her interview and a light went on in my head.  Maybe it was time – since I’m such a big boy now – for me to go on a job interview.  I thought for a moment about what I was good at, what I could do to contribute to the household.  I asked Ferocious about her “job” – as autoshop guard dog – and had an “A-ha!” moment.  I could do that…

So Ferocious started to show me the ropes.  She first had me walk the perimeter to stake out any evil-doers.  Then hiding around the cars was the next lesson.  Where to pee so that everyone knows you’re on duty is very important, so we worked on that for awhile.

I think I may have it mom – I’ll be bringing home the bacon soon (mmm, b-a-c-o-n…)…

OK, I can explain…

Yes, this is a male dog. Yes, we’ve just met in the park. Yes I appear to be HUMPING HIS HEAD.

It’s SPRING… time for a young man’s thoughts to turn to… ok, maybe not exactly gay doggie sex but something along those lines. I tell you, I just have these urges that I can’t explain. I try to ask older male dogs what they do when this sort of thing takes over and they all tell me the same thing:

Today is St. Patrick’s Day… I admit I have no idea of what this means, but I’ve seen a lot of people wearing green things (which reminds me of my favorite thing – grass – so I approve).

Of course that means that mom has to do something silly (she seems to catch onto every silly thing with every holiday so far…) so she brought some green leis to the dog park, figuring that she’d take a few pictures while torturing me and forcing me to wear them – and maybe some of my friends too.

What was cool, tho, is that there was almost no one at the dog park today… except for an Irish Setter named Charlie!!! She’s really beautiful, so the humans thought that getting together an Irish dog and a British dog, making them wear green leis and try to stand still – might be funny.

And in other news…

I think I’ve found a new love… she’s about twice my size but that doesn’t deter me.  I’m not even the slightest bit intimidated by the tall girls… I didn’t catch her name, but I definitely caught her scent.

Yesterday was my first Christmas, and mom and dad took me over to their friends house – Stephen & Sharon – so I could play with their doggies. I’ve never met them before, the German Shepherd is Oliver, and the avocado-shaped dog is Sneaky. At first no one was sure if we would all get along, but my charm and wit won over the older doggies and we had so much fun. Running and jumping, chasing and play-biting, fetching and humping….

Wait, did I just say humping?

That’s what the humans called it. I can’t explain it. This sudden urge just came over me to grab onto Sneaky and just hump away. Was I trying to show dominance? Am I sexually maturing? Was it just a funny game? Damned if I know. All I know was that I was absolutely powerless to resist the giant butt of the neutered Sneaky.

Sneaky was quite patient with me for most of the evening, as I just couldn’t control myself once I’d started. Oliver looked on, amused, and just glad that I didn’t find him nearly so attractive.

The humans were inside, cooking and eating until a very late hour. By this time my romantic antics were thoroughly rebuffed by an annoyed Sneaky and we were all gathering around the door begging for some chow. It came in the form of several bowls of turkey pieces, which I haven’t had before and I gobbled down (mom thinks that’s funny…).

I did get presents earlier in the day, luckily I wasn’t in mom’s office so I didn’t have to deal with THAT TREE. Some special food in the morning and a few little gifties made me a happy dog.

Hope your Christmas was great and you managed to cajole your humans into getting you exactly what you wanted this year!!!!

Hm.

Anyway, their mechanic is a really nice guy named Walter. And he has a really great dog named Ferocious. When I first saw her it was love at first sight… she’s a foxy kind of lady (by that I mean she looks like a fox, or the picture I saw of a fox one time) who guards the auto shop. And she’s really, really good at her job. When she’s not keeping out the riff-raff, there are lots of great oil puddles to roll in, and she’s led me down this path before. I know as soon as dad brings me here that I’m gonna roll with Ferocious.

We play too, and I’ve found a lovely spot at the back of the shop to poop. It’s funny, no one notices it for the first minute or so, then all of a sudden everyone looks at me — woo! hoo! attention for me! — and then dad has to “do the doody”.

I really like Ferocious, she gives me a run for my money and really wears me out. It’s always fun to go to Budget Auto Repair, thanks Walter!!!
